First principle: do not be misled by the feeling of calm
The greatest danger in green zones, such as assembly areas, rest areas, or rear bases, is the illusion of safety. Enemy drones look for high-value targets such as troop concentrations, logistics, and command posts precisely in these areas.
Guidelines for soldiers / green zone
Tactical guide: protection against drones in a green zone (assembly areas and rear bases)
An assembly area or rear base is not shelter by itself. This page concentrates the rules of conduct for maintaining dispersion, reducing signature, early warning, and careful handling of unusual incidents.
Dispersion before comfortVehicles, fighters, and supply points remain spaced even during rest.
Electronic and spatial silencePhones, background noise, and gatherings create a signature the enemy can detect.
Shelter before treatment or curiosityCasualties, UXO, and downed drones are handled only from a distance, under cover, and with professional authority.
Action categories
Protection rules in assembly areas and rear bases
01
Spatial and logistical discipline
Spaced parking: A minimum of 50 meters must be maintained between parked vehicles in the assembly area.
Ammunition storage: It is strictly forbidden to leave explosives and ammunition inside light vehicles.
Recovery and maintenance: Disabled vehicles or those requiring servicing will be recovered and handled only under cover of darkness.
02
Preventing gatherings and complacency
Strict no-gathering rule: Crowding of fighters invites the dropping of heavy munitions. Even in a green zone, 15-25 meter spacing between fighters must be maintained, and concentration near structures, vehicles, or supply points should be avoided, even during rest.
Complete cellular silence: Personal mobile devices must be fully turned off or stored inside Faraday bags. Airplane mode is not enough; the devices continue to emit pulses that allow the enemy to geolocate the force concentration and strike it.
03
Observation and early warning ("sky watchers")
Positioning dedicated observers: Observers equipped with binoculars and observation devices must be posted to scan the sky.
Noise isolation: Observation posts should be placed in an area isolated from background noise. Observers must be kept away from motor vehicles, generators, and radios so they can hear approaching drones.
04
Passive protection for sensitive targets
Protective canopies for logistics and medical assets: Medical evacuation and logistics vehicles are highly sensitive targets. An overhead "protective canopy" of netting (such as sports nets) should be set up above them when static.
Infrastructure concealment: Above command posts and activity hubs, camouflage nets should be deployed to prevent the operator from identifying targets from the air and to create frustration.
05
Medical treatment under threat
Shelter is mandatory: It is strictly forbidden to provide medical treatment under open skies. Casualties must be treated only in protected areas, such as inside buildings or under dense vegetation.
Isolation of the treatment area: The number of caregivers must be reduced to the minimum necessary to avoid creating an attractive target, and any unnecessary crowding of onlookers around the casualty must be prevented.
06
Handling unexploded items (iron rules)
A drone is like a bomb: A drone caught in a net or fallen to the ground (UXO) is a live, lethal explosive charge waiting for forces to come recover or inspect it. It is strictly forbidden to approach it, touch it, or try to free it.
Safety distance: When a neutralized drone or UXO is identified, everyone must be evacuated to at least a 40-meter radius and an EOD technician or bomb disposal unit must be called to handle the threat.
